A decant is a smaller portion of an original fragrance, transferred from the full retail bottle into a travel atomiser. This page explains exactly how we do that.
1. Where our bottles come from
We buy every full-size bottle new, through official channels: established, authorised retailers. For every bottle we keep the purchase invoice.
2. Every bottle is registered
Before a bottle is opened, it is entered in our batch register and given its own source-bottle number. For each bottle we record:
brand, fragrance and bottle size
EAN barcode
the manufacturer's batch code (LOT), as printed on the box and/or bottle
supplier, purchase date and invoice number
photos of the box, bottle and ingredient list
3. How we decant
Every decant is filled by hand, on a cleaned work surface, wearing gloves.
We transfer the fragrance with a glass syringe or pipette.
The spray head is removed only for filling; the bottle is decanted straight away and closed again immediately. Bottles are never left standing open.
Every decant goes into a new atomiser. Atomisers are never reused.
We do not dilute, mix or alter the fragrance in any way.
Every decant is leak-tested for 24 hours and closed with a hygiene seal before it is shipped.
4. Traceable to one bottle
Every decant carries a batch code. That code links the decant to exactly one registered source bottle, and therefore to its manufacturer LOT code, supplier and purchase invoice. If you ever have a question about your decant, send us the batch code and we can tell you which bottle it was filled from.
5. Ingredients and safety information
Each order includes a card with the full ingredient list (INCI) of the original fragrance and the safety warnings. The ingredient list is also shown on the product page, where available. Please check it before use if you are sensitive to fragrance ingredients.
6. Independent
Petit Niche is an independent business. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the fragrance houses whose perfumes we decant. Brand names are used only to identify the original fragrance.
